I am honored to introduce another inspiring and loving young woman for you to get to know and be encouraged by. I know you will be encouraged by her writings just as I was. Enjoy!

My name is Ashley, and I’m fifteen years old. I’m a rising sophomore at a public high school in Georgia where I’ve lived all my life. I thought and prayed about this a lot and I feel that God is leading me to become a teacher, specifically to special needs children. It’s something I’m passionate about and have spent a lot of time volunteering with these kids and I love it. I’m also interested in the medical research side of this, however I’m continuing to listen and pray about this. I’m also a bookworm and read in most every spare minute. I also enjoy writing and hope to spend more time doing that. I enjoy being challenged, I love kids, and most importantly God is and will be the center of my life no matter what.

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

I was raised in churches and accepted Jesus into my life at a young age but it wasn’t until I was 11 that I let down some barriers I didn’t know I had that my faith became real to me in the sense that I was thirsty for God and I understand that I could trust him no matter what. It’s a long story, but although I was raised in the church and accepted it. I didn’t grow up in what you would consider a Christian home. I never saw that life lived out at home where I was most of the time so I thought believing was all that I needed to do. When I “discovered” God, I realized I needed to live out my belief all the time, and I began to contemplate how amazing what Jesus did for you and me was. I was able to give God my problems at home, my fears, etc and in return I got this amazing peace and my faith became so much richer and deeper. Although I mess up, and sometimes forget to put God first I know He is always there and there is power in His word and in prayer. I’m really involved in my church and its youth group. And now my family has started going to church together more often. I can’t really explain all that he has done but I’m no longer afraid knowing that I walk with my Savior.

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

I used to become really worried and stressed easily. As a little girl I was afraid of not being liked or loved. I tried to take responsibility for problems around me. Since my salvation I no longer do that. I am able to give it to God and walk with confidence knowing that He loves me. That in turn has touched everything I do. I was able to begin using the gifts God gave me rather than being afraid I wasn’t good enough at it. It’s made me a more loving and compassionate person.

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus?

His love and compassion.

4) What do you feel God's purpose for your life is?

As stated above, teaching, and I also desire very much to be a Godly wife and mother, but most of all just that I seek Him and His will in everything I do.

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

It’s hard for me to show love when I’m unsure of somebody’s reaction. When I’m not sure how they will react (ie in anger) I tend to make myself scarce and then harbor anger at them and myself. God has been showing me I need to show love anyway and draw strength from him. It’s worked especially in the relationship with my mom!

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

Mrs. Kim, she was one of my conformation leaders. Once I began my new walk with Christ she was one of the first people I saw living out her faith. I loved not only her insight and guidance, but also the joy she had in Christ and in everything. She was a great role model for me and encouraged me so much.

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God?

I make it a point to pray at least once a day, and then right before bed I read a chapter in the bible. The next day, sometime in the morning, I read it again and then right down scriptures from the chapter that caught my attention. Then later I write down my thoughts and explanation of the passage. I have a bible notebook where I keep this stuff. Sometimes when other things come up I have to move things around but I try my best to at least read the chapter and reflect. 

8 ) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

Keep your eyes on God and be sure to seek God’s will in your life, especially God’s time schedule, because God’s plan for you is greater than yours could ever be.

9) What do you do to entertain yourself?

Read, write, knit, volunteer, spend time with friends, sing in my churches choir (we’re currently on a break for summer).

10) What are some of your favorite books?

 Well I love all of Karen Kingsbury’s books I have read which are almost all of them. I love books by Robin Lee Hatcher, and Robin Jones Gunn. I enjoy the left behind series, the bible (of course! :), Lori Wick, Terry Blackstock, Beverly Lahaye. In addition many of the star wars books. I recently finished a good book by Jerry B. Jenkins called "though none go with me" as well. This is mostly authors but the books (even just some) would take a long time to list!

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day?

Smile or do something that is pleasing or helpful to those around me.

12) What is your favorite bible verse?

Matthew 4:4. It reminds me just how important praying and reading the Bible is.

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs)

Now that is tough- I love so many. I guess I would say Steven Curtis Chapman because his songs always make me think and help me connect to God and I like listening to songs that do that for me rather than are meaningless.

The fact that I can learn so much about my spiritual walk from someone who’s been there, and that I can see God working through it.

I am happy to introduce a special friend of mine who has brought so much encouragement to me in this blogging world. May you be blessed just as I was by getting a glimpse into her heart as she testifies of the Lord's workings in her life.

Greetings and salutations! My name is Kassandra, but most know me as "Kasie." I've been homeschooled all my life, and at 16 years of age I'm the 7th of 8 children and an Aunt of 18 nieces and nephews! My heart's desire is to fulfill God's purpose for my life, to serve Him and give Him glory in everything I do. I'm not planning on any major career in the world, neither to sit idly at home and waste my single years, but preparing for a future of marriage and motherhood, if the Lord wills it. My family will testify to the fact that I'm a pretty outgoing and excitable sort who greatly enjoys to laugh and sometimes be silly. I like riding horses, drinking tea, playing music, and being outside. The thing I love most is to be surrounded by those I love most; my dear family and friends.

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord? 
I was six years old when I accepted Jesus into my heart, having been lead to Him by my loving parents one evening sitting on the living room couch. I was baptized the next week at church, along with my brother and sister, and thus began my walk following Christ. To be honest however, I don't think I realized (or at least, chose not to realize) the extent of God's love for me and the amazing sacrifice He made for me until I was about 11. I grew up in a Christian home where God was the center of everything. It was merely apart of our lifestyle to pray and read the Bible every morning, to sing songs about Jesus and be active in the church - I thought it was what every family did! As I grew older I saw the consequences of shunning Jesus, and not living a godly life. And over time the Lord showed me that it was not enough to simply go through the motions of being a Christian, but that He wanted all of me, and for me to truly love Him and love serving Him. At age 13 I officially rededicated my life to Christ; a couple years later I received the Holy Spirit and have, since those times in my life, looked at my walk with God with new eyes. Though the road has been bumpy and full of trials since then, the Lord has been incredibly faithful and has given me grace beyond measure!

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation? 
I'm not sure exactly how to answer, since I don't remember much of my life before I was saved. However, I do remember the biggest change in my life after my 'rededication': I live with purpose. No longer do I drift from day-to-day being a Christian just because everyone else around me was, but because Christ died for me! and He wants me! My life has a purpose and I matter to Him. 

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus? 
He never gives up on me, even if I do. If it isn't enough that He died on the cross for my sins, He still wants me even when I've behaved terribly, and gives me grace and forgiveness over and over again. He is always faithful. He picks me up when I fall down and gives me strength to move on. 

4) What do you feel God's purpose for your life is? 
I believe that one day I will be married and have children, in which case my purpose would be to support and love my husband and raise a family for the glory of God. The Lord has yet to reveal to me what exactly He wants me to do in between after highschool and then (I'm not getting a degree at college), but I know that He will when the time comes. As a Christian I will always have one main, important purpose; to tell others of the Gospel and share God's love.

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman? 
Just that: being set apart. But let me explain... You don't have to know my family long in order to realize that we're different, that our standards and principles aren't the same as a lot Christians and some homeschoolers. I've never liked that. I couldn't stand it when people would stare at me in disbelief when I told them I wasn't allowed to go to a youth group, or perhaps another church function (note: this is not meant to speak against these in any way!) My brothers and sister could care less what others thought, but to me it was awful. It seems I've experienced a lot of this over the past year especially, and I hated being reminded that I was different from everyone else. But, once again, the Lord used that season in my life for me to learn, and with His help and the help of my family, I did! Now I understand that God loves variety and has made each of us different for a reason, as families and as individuals. In the family of God we are all His children, and each of us are unique and special in our own way. 

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else? 
My dear, loving, caring Mom! As a mature Christian she has been able to share with us - her children -  many life lessons and experiences that have been very helpful. I admire Mom for raising 8 children and homeschooling most of us, for her skill in mentoring many mothers and helping them with pregnancies, births, homeschooling and child training (can you tell she likes babies and children? :-), and for bringing God into the picture with everything. She has such a spark about her, and she has great trust in the Lord that nothing seems to dishearten her (though she would probably say otherwise). I love you Mom! You're a blessing and encouragement!

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God? 
That is something I've recently been meditating and working on. I want it to be that I'm constantly thinking about Him, praying and worshiping Him throughout my daily routines. However, as a sinner who's thoughts are constantly wanting to stray from God's word and as a work in progress, I'm not there yet. :-) But, as I mentioned earlier, the Lord is so faithful and extremely patient with me, His foolish child. It's a great help to me to have visual reminders set about the house; scripture verses on the wall and praising and including Him more in my everyday speech. Where I feel closest to God is when I'm outside; just to take a walk in our field or by the roadside turns my mind to the wonder of God's creation and what He has done for me!

8 ) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say? 
God made you different for a very special reason. He knows what's best, and He loves you the way He created you. Don't be afraid to excel and rejoice in your uniqueness and give Him all you've got! 

9) What do you do to entertain yourself? 
I read, take a walk or play outside, experiment with baking and cooking, sew, do crafts, and work on projects outside (there's always work to be done on our land!), and in the evenings I like to watch movies or old T.V. shows with my family. One of my passions is music. I play the piano, violin, mandolin and tin whistle, and I love practicing on all of them! My prayer is that my family (who are all musical) and I can bless others and bring glory to God with our music. 

10) What are some of your favorite books?
Not including the Bible, my favorites are (in no particular order) The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin (and others by her as well), Little Women and The Inheritance by Louisa May Alcott, The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott, To Have and To Hold by Mary Johnston, and Daughters of Destiny by Noelle Wheeler (yes I know, it's mostly fiction!). Believe me, I love many many more works as well, but I can only list so many!

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day? 
Any of my hobbies, which I try to include between school, housekeeping and making meals. However, what I really love is to have people over! When we lived in N.Y. state our home was always a flurry of excitement, with our friends and family stopping by, fellowshipping or enjoying our pool outside - it was great! I hope that our new home here in Tennessee would one day be like that too - it seems to be off to a good start!
 
12) What is your favorite bible verse? 
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." ~1 Cor. 10:31 Could I rephrase that to one of my favorite Bible verses? :-)

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs)
Steven Curtis Chapman, because of his solid faith in God that shows through his music; Paul Baloche, for his heartfelt humble songs that are great to worship with; and Casting Crowns for their well written songs full of truth we all need to hear. I also like Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Kathryn Scott, Mark Shultz, and Brian Dierkson. My favorite songs include "Strength Will Rise," "Greater Song," "Hungry," "Revelation Song," "Praise You in this Storm," and "Give You Glory" just to name a few. 

14) Can you describe yourself in one word? 
Uh...no. :-) However, I've asked my sister Angie, and she suggests "expressive." It's hard to think of only one, since there are many words that would accurately describe me! I think it works though. 

15) What is your favorite quote? (From someone other than Christ) 
Something my Dad used to tell all his kids; "Always shoot for the stars, and if you don't hook onto one of them, you'll be sure to grab at least a planet!" It's such a blessing to have such an encouraging Dad who's with you all the way!

16) What is your favorite thing about this blog?   
Kaysie's simple sweet character, her childlike faith in the Lord, her encouragement and friendship. Also her consistent helpful posting - every good blog needs that! :-) May God continue to bless your writings Kaysie!

Alabaster Heart: Sara

It is my great pleasure to introduce you to a precious sister in the Lord, my dear friend Sara. She has been a blessing an encouragement to my walk with the Lord and a joy to get to know. And I know her life will be a great encouragement to you all as well.

My name is Sara Nicole Smith. I am 25 years old, a pastor's daughter, and oldest sister to three brothers. I live with my family in Northeastern Pennsylvania and I'm thrilled to be a daughter of the King of Kings. I seek to live for my Saviour and bring Him glory and honour in every way that I can. I enjoy studying the Word of God, exercising outdoors, keeping a house tidy and clean, baking, writing, blogging, spending time with family and friends, and smelling the scents of Yankee candles!

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

Since I was raised in a Christian home, I knew the concept of heaven and hell. So, at the age of three, I made a profession. However, I did not quite fathom the concept of repentance and godly sorrow over sin - my sin. It was at the age of 10 years old that the Lord broke through to my heart and gloriously saved me! I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour and immediately was cleansed from all unrighteousness! It's been a love relationship ever since!

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

Since I had grown up in a Christian environment with God-fearing parents who instructed their children in the ways of the Lord, there weren't too many outward changes of my new found relationship with Jesus Christ. The biggest change was inward. My heart was new! I had a longing desire to pant and seek after God. I didn't want to live for myself but seek to serve Him and obey His Word. I began loving time spent with my Saviour in prayer, reading the Word, memorizing Scripture, and writing letters to Him - as my Beloved and Friend.

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus?

Oh, I'm not sure if I have one favorite thing because He is just all too wonderful! If I had to pick, I am thankful for His mercy. I fail Him so many times during the course of each day, yet He never leaves me or casts me away. He is always there, ready to forgive, help, comfort, and strengthen me. I would be nothing without Him. Any good within me is only by His grace!

4) What do you feel God's purpose for your life is?

At this time, I believe my calling is to be a faithful daughter, cheerfully serving my family and seeking their best. Whether this means relieving my mother of some of the household duties so she can minister to others, ministering to my father's congregation as a source of encouragement, spending quality time with my younger siblings, seeking ways to reach out to those in need around me, or just be at the right place at the right time for God to accomplish His purpose through me - this is my calling. I do desire to be a loving wife and joyful mother to many children, if God so chooses to bless me with that privilege; but until then, I am learning to wait upon the Lord as He strengthens my heart!

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

I believe there are two things that can become discouraging for me because of the scoff of the world: modesty and femininity. I so desire to please the Lord in my conversation (actions, words, conduct) but I also desire to please Him outwardly as well, in dress. Those in the world, as well as Christian believers, often frown upon this as they seem to think it is 'legalistic'. However, I know that we are personally called to walk in the Light that He has shown us to be true and I gladly admit there is a freedom and security in that. Also, I believe that feminism is so rampant in this day and age and chivalry has long ceased that it is hard for a woman to rely dependant on a man for strength, support, and protection. I have been blessed with a godly father and protective brothers who I can lean on. Others may not understand this dependence but I believe that the woman was created for the man and that we are called to be help-meets. This is our God-ordained role since the beginning of time.

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

I would definitely say my mother! She has been a source of inspiration to me and a godly example of a woman who fears and honors the Lord. Her guidance and instruction continue to mold me into a vessel fit for my Master's use. The Lord has also used Nancy Leigh DeMoss and her ministry to bless and encourage my heart.

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God?

When I feel like I need a "breath of fresh air", I will take a verse that has spoken to me and get out the concordance, dictionary, and commentaries and study it out. Then I will often write an article to keep it fresh in my mind.

8 ) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

Don't Give Up! It's too easy to look around at others and become disgruntled with your circumstances and ungrateful for where the Lord has put you at this exact moment in time. We must continually look to our Saviour and into His Word and purpose to obey Him in everything! Also, I believe it is very vital for a young woman to honour and respect her parents, their wishes, and desires. This pleases our Saviour!

9) What do you do to entertain yourself?

I enjoy relaxing with my family, playing a game and laughing with friends, playing my harp or piano, and checking up on my friends' blogs!

10) What are some of your favorite books?

"My Utmost for His Highest", "Treasury of David", "Abide in Christ", "The Pilgrims Progress", and "If I Perish", to name a few!

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day?

Definitely writing and blogging (www.simplysanctified.blogspot.com)!

12) What is your favorite bible verse?

There are so many to choose from but the Lord has given me a special one throughout these past few months after suffering through many trials, heartache, and sorrow. "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth". Isaiah 43:18-19

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs)

Believe it or not, I don't think I have a favorite artist. I do appreciate the music of Ron and Shelly Hamilton. Their songs have certainly blessed my heart and encouraged me in my walk with the Lord. Some of my favorite songs that I enjoy singing are, "I'd Rather Have Jesus", "A Tender Heart", "O Rejoice in the Lord", and "All the Way My Saviour Leads Me".

14) Can you describe yourself in one word?

I don't think so - I do know, though, that I am a "people person"! 

15) What is your favorite quote? (From someone other than Christ)

This life will soon be past but only what's done for Christ will last!

16) What is your favorite thing about this blog?

Kaysie's writings have been such a wonderful source of encouragement and blessing to my heart. To "see" her heart for the Lord through her writings is a precious and lovely gift! Thank you, Kaysie for all your hard work and labor of love for your sisters in Christ!

Alabaster Heart: Morgan

It is my pleasure to introduce to you a beautiful new friend of mine. May her life lived for Jesus encourage your heart and inspire your walk with Christ.

My name is Morgan and I am 17 (almost 18) years old. I have been homeschooled my entire life and will graduate this spring. I live on a farm in SW Ohio with my 2 younger siblings and parents. I have been a dancer for 13 years and currently I am the teacher's assistant for the 6-8 grade class at one of hte studios I attend. I like designing web pages in my spare time and I also take photography courses from the New York Institute of Photography. I plan to receive my Associate degree (unsure of what it will be in.) Most likely, though, majoring in computer security, computer forensics, or business. I also want to continue with my photography and hope to work using my degree to save money in order to have my own photography studio. I then want to get married and have a large family...living in the woods in a log cabin. (smile) I also like caring for kids, volunteering wherever needed, taking walks in the woods, and meeting new people. I hope to raise children that will carry on Christ's legacy and be a light in a very dark world.

 

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?  

 

I was raised in church my entire life and accepted Christ at the age of 7 or 8. When I was 12, I rededicated my life to Him at a Christian dance convention. 

 

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation? 

 

Wanting to be Christ-like. Sometimes I think that something is right because I've heard that it is for so long. When I stop and think about it, I ask myself, "Is it Christ-like? Am I acting like Him?" If I'm not, I try to change right away and become who He wants me to be.

 

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus? 

 

Oh my goodness...His forgiveness. It really does  stretch as far as the East is from the West!  

 

4) What do you feel God's purpose for your life is? 

 

In general as a Christian, my purpose is to reach all those around me with the love of God and bring others to Christ. As for Christ's personal plan for my life, I'm not sure yet. I've always felt a strong call toward missions, but am unsure if it means out-of-country, or just reaching those around me! I know for a fact that He wants me to get married become a Godly wife, all the while raising Godly children. 

 

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman? 

 

I am a peace keeper. Sometimes I do not always stand up for what is right in order to keep the peace. I think that it comes from our 'politically correct' culture and I try to break away from that. I know sometimes it isn't easy, and we can extend forgiveness and grace towards others, but we also need to stand up for Christ and our Biblical values...even if it makes people uncomfortable.

 

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else? 

 

I have two: my Mom and my Bible study leader, Mrs. Landis.

 

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God? 

Memorize scripture... specifically prayers.

 

8 ) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

 

 Make your actions and your words match according to God's Word.  

 

9) What do you do to entertain yourself? 

 

Ha ha...I live in the middle of no where! We make our own fun! I take pictures and edit them. Our family likes to watch Hallmark movies together and my sister and I like to do DancePraise2. (Christian version of DanceDance Revolution) I like to read craft magazines and dream about things I'll never make. (smile) And I like going to youth group activities and hanging out with friends and their families.

 

10) What are some of your favorite books? 

 

I don't really like to read...I think it's because of all the Christian romance novels I read my freshman year. ;) There are a few books that I LOVE~ "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "When My Name Was Keoko."

 

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day? 

 

Go to sleep!

 

12) What is your favorite bible verse? 

 

"Let my speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that I might know how I ought to answer everyone." -Colossians 4:6    Is that hard to live by or what? And I also love " Call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you, and you will honor Me. " Psalm 50:15

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs) 

I like Brandon Heath, Chris Tomlin, Nicole C. Mullen, Across the Sky, Lincoln Brewster (my favorite), and the Glory Revealed CD.  My favorite songs are "I Surrender" by Lincoln Brewster and the hymn "Ancient Words."  I love Lincoln Brewster because he has such great worship songs....especially on his live CD- it makes me feel as if I am there worshipping there with them!

 

14) Can you describe yourself in one word? 

 

Random...I  am so random.

Alabaster Heart: Ella

I am very pleased to introduce you to a new friend of mine! Her name is Ella and she is 17 years old. She lives with her family in the beautiful state of Idaho. She is currently finishing up her senior year of homeschool high school and plans to remain a stay-at-home daughter until she gets married and has a family of her own.

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

When I was four years old, I asked Jesus into my heart in the quiet of my room. However, I had more of a stagnant walk; I felt like I had done enough so I wouldn't go to hell. Yet, around age 14, I had an awakening of sorts. I got serious in my relationship with Him...and there has been no turning back since!

 

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

 

The Lord has led me, as a result, to walk the path less traveled. That means I have chosen not to go to college, not to date, dress modestly, etc. Christ has made me want to obey His ways in all things, even if it means pain and loneliness.

 

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus?

 

His grace, His mercy, and His faithfulness. Why He doesn't give up on me I will never know. I just thank Him for giving me a new chance every single day. And when I fail, He picks me up and gets me started again.

 

4) What do you feel God's purpose for your life is?

 

It is to magnify and praise His name. Yet, I believe He has led me to do this as a wife and mother...and to author a book on modesty.

 

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

 

The fact that I am to be set apart. It is so hard to reject the lies of the world! I mean, I know I am to reject the fads of now, the dress code, everything. However, my God is good! He reminds me that He will carry me through the storms I face.

 

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

 

My mother. She has taught me so much on Biblical, feminine womanhood. I couldn't be the way I am if not for her loving guidance.

 

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God?

 

I always try to pray. No, they aren't these long, "glamorous" prayers, but when I am struggling, I step aside and turn the situation over to the Father. I also listen to music. For me, music helps me in my spiritual walk; it feeds me, encourages me, and yes, convicts me.

 

8) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

 

"It isn't a bad thing to be different than the world. I won’t say it is without pain, but the pain only lasts so long. If we are faithful, God promises to be faithful to His promises. I wouldn't have things any other way."

 

9) What do you do to entertain yourself?

 

I love to read, play the piano, bake yummy goodies, watch old movies, and work on my blog.

 

10) What are some of your favorite books?

 

I absolutely love the works of Louisa May Alcott and Jane Austen! In a modern Christian realm, I enjoy Karen Kingsbury. However, I am enjoying biographies on the lives of William Wilberforce and Peter Marshall. Also, I love Christian living (So Much More, I Kissed Dating Good-bye, etc...).

 

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day?

 

Oh....that is hard! Everything I said in #9 would be accurate =)

I will give references to a couple of them. Lamentations 3:22-23, Jeremiah 29:11, Galatians 6:9, Matthew 5:10

 

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs)

 

Steven Curtis Chapman without a doubt! I love the lyrics to his songs. His latest CD is in my player. However I also love Mercy Me's "Bring the Rain" (it has encourages me through some tough times lately) Casting Crown's "East to West", Brian Littrel's "In Christ Alone", Jeremy Camp's "More Than Enough" and Rebecca St. James' "Wait For Me" can constantly be found in my player too.

 

14) Can you describe yourself in one word?

 

Different. =) Not many people can understand why I am the way I am.

As I stated, I have grown to enjoy the works of Rev. Peter Marshall. He was a chaplain in the US Senate. Anyway, I cannot write all that I love; I would take up far too much space! His stands on womanhood mean a lot. I would encourage you all to learn about him. I can also find inspiring, encouraging, convicting quotes in books I read all the time!

Alabaster Heart: Sylvia

I am so excited and pleased to introduce you to a new friend of mine! Her name is Sylvia and she lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is 26 years old and lives and works in Kampala. Her church is there as well, but her family lives in Budaka (eastern Uganda). She is God’s warrior and her life has been a life of war. She wants to live and stand for the truth, and she knows the future is bright. She wants to glorify God in everything she does.

 

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

 

I knew about Jesus and that He died and rose again, but I guess I was living a double life. It was in Feb. 2003 at my University at an abstinence rally that I committed my life to Jesus completely and said “Jesus take the wheel!” From then to now my life has never been the same, and I am forever grateful!

 

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

 

There are so many changes in my life, but the biggest change of all is that I now live life with purpose. Before, I was just living like everyone else. Right now, I know there is someone who loves me (JESUS), and that there is eternal life after this life where I will go to meet the King of kings. Basically everything about me has changed.

 

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus?

 

My favorite thing about Jesus is His humility and boldness. He was God and had all the power to do everything, yet He lived such a simple life and chose to die for me - me who is soo rebellious and ungrateful! I want to be like Jesus!

 

4) What do you feel God’s purpose for your life is?

 

To do His will, to live a life that pleases Him. And to pray for the Nations that they will come to acknowledge that He is King.

 

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

 

It is hard to live a set apart life, especially in a world where there is so much sin around me. But, I have come to learn that I am not to please the world, but that, as a set apart woman, I am to please God. It may be hard, but at the end of it all I glorify God.

 

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

 

One of the leaders in our church, she’s called Hadassah. She has so much zeal for the Lord! And when she talks about the Lord it is very real. Also her life testimony is so amazing. She shares her struggles and how she has overcome them, and this helps me deal with mine.

 

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God?

 

God’s Word helps me a lot, and I am so open with God. I talk to Him about whatever am going through. Also short prayers help, like for example “I know You are with me”.

 

 If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

 

They are princesses and Jesus loves them the way they are. And that they should work on their inner beauty more than the outside. Dress modestly, and honor the temple of the Holy Spirit.

 

9) What do you do to entertain yourself?

I watch Christian movies, and read and listen to music.

“Brokenness”, “The Purity Principle”, the “Left Behind Series” and of course the Bible - my life guide!

Talking to my friends after work.

Jeremiah 29:11. When I feel like all is not making sense, it speaks to me. But every time I read it, I get new revelations about many verses.

Alabaster Heart: Camille

I am very pleased to introduce you to a dear friend of mine. Her name is Camille and she currently lives with her family in TN. She is twelve years old and hopes to eventually raise a family, be a missionary, or/and an author - just whatever the Lord wants for her.

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

I was around 7 years old when I accepted Jesus Christ into my life. I had “prayed the prayer” many times before, but it was when I was alone kneeling in my room when He truly came into my life.

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

I don’t know! I mean, everything in my life has changed! Well… the biggest thing (and not so much the best thing) is that since I am a Christian, I need to live my life according to God’s Word. Even when that may be difficult, I still have to make hard decisions - really hard ones! I have to live my life for Christ no matter what.

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus? 

This is hard!  Probably the fact that He is always awake…He’s always present. He knows what you are going to say before you say it, and He knows what my desires are before I do. So I guess my favorite thing about Jesus (or God) is that He is always there for me.

4) What do you feel God’s purpose for your life is?

Hmm… I think God’s purpose in my life is for me to have a family and to help other people come to know the Lord.

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

Like question number two, it’s the fact that I am set apart. No matter what other people may be doing, no matter how hard it is, I have say and do things that normally I wouldn’t want to do, like letting someone know about my faith even when it might seem “embarrassing”.

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

That would have to be my Mom and you, Kaysie.

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God? 

Pray. That usually opens a door to my heart for God to speak into. When I am upset, happy, or just wanting talk to God - praying to Him always lifts my spirit.

 If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say? 

That life is about Jesus. And that life isn’t just a party for us to have fun in… it’s serious. We have to live our lives for Him and do what He wants us to do. If you stay focused on Christ, everything will work out according to His plan.

9) What do you do to entertain yourself? 

Hang around my friends, and my brother Corey! They’re always doing something funny!

10) What are some of your favorite books? 

Hmm… this is sure a hard one! NOT!  My favorite book is (drum roll) THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA! Go C.S. Lewis, yeah! (sorry!)

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day?

Read and maybe listen to music.

Romans 10:9.

Andrew Peterson! I love what he sings about. It glorifies God and it always builds me up. My favorite song is “Far Country”, and I like “Shadowlands” by Rebecca St. James.

Crazy.

15) What is your favorite quote? (From someone other than Christ)

I don’t really have a favorite quote. There are so many lines from movies and books, and verses from songs that I love. So, I will just name a sentence in a book that just stood out to me. It was said by ‘Allfather’, (who portrays “God” in the story) he was talking about the main evil guy (who, guess what, portrays satan) who was about to try to take over the world.
Allfather said, “Be strong! For though he may triumph for a day, he does not know that all tomorrows are mine.”
I just thought it was a cool quote. It can definitely give us strength when we are afraid. All tomorrows are God’s. Cool.

It gives me a chance to hear all of Kaysie’s great thoughts, and we can leave comments to share something about what she said too.

Alabaster Heart: Me!

Hi! My name is Kaysie(surprise!), I am 20 years old, and I live with my family in the mountains of TN. I am a stay-at-home daughter, striving to serve Christ and my family. My heart’s desire for the future is to marry a godly man and raise up our children for the glory of God.

1) How and when did you first come to know Jesus as your Lord?

I was around seven or eight years old when I confessed Jesus as Lord, but was about thirteen when I really began to cling to Christ and grow in my faith. In a nutshell, at thirteen I was involved in a serious horse and carriage accident and nearly died. In the hospital, however, I realized that God was the only One who could save me and I surrendered all of me to Him. Many, many people cried out to God for me, and God powerfully answered! God healed my body and restored me to complete health. I was forever changed as a result.

2) What has been the biggest change in your life as a result of salvation?

I live with a purpose. I know my life counts for something far greater than to just live life, have fun, and die. I live for Someone. I have hope in life and hope in death. So I guess my entire life has been changed as a result of salvation!

3) What is your favorite thing about Jesus?

That’s a hard one! I would have to say that…He is the great Lover of my soul. I think that is what is so powerful about the gospel - the amazing love He had, first for His Father, and second for us. Even when He suffered extreme pain and death, His passion and love never ceased. He endured, His love endured, and now as a result of His sacrifice, we can endure for Him. He staggers my mind completely! On a more personal level, in this state in my life, He has been my only true Love and has protected and cherished me, even better than any man could. He is my constant companion and dearest Friend. He is the perfect Man! 

4) What do you feel God’s purpose for your life is?

My purpose in life is to live for Jesus, loving Him above all else. I was created for God’sglory, (Is.43:7) which means I am “to give a correct opinion or estimate of” Him. I am to live in such a way as to give everyone in creation the correct opinion or estimate of God. What a purpose!

5) What is the hardest thing for you to live out as a set apart woman?

To be just that - set apart; trying to live a life unstained by the world’s dirty hands. Living a life for God’s glory is no simple task! To live representing Christ in all I do is impossible in my own strength. Abiding in Christ is the only way I can do what I was created for. The hard part is choosing who I want to abide in today: me or Jesus?!

6) What woman has impacted your walk with God more than anyone else?

My Mother. Her life has been my inspiration and the reflection of Christ every day of my life. She is the picture of living for God’s glory! Her devotion to God and her family is a breathtaking beauty that will never fade. She was the first one to ever tell me about my Lover, and live a life right before my eyes that confirm His existence.

7) In your daily walk with God, what are a few things that you do to remain renewed and focused on God?

First and foremost, I try to read God’s Word everyday - especially in the morning. His words keep me renewed and focused. Second, I make an effort to think about Him; to keep my mind set on the things above (it is a constant struggle for me). I also like to do other things to cultivate His and my relationship, such as taking a walk outside just to talk to Him, or singing in the car to Him, etc. This has really helped me.

8 ) If you could say one thing to other Christian girls what would you say?

Stay very close to Jesus. He is really all you need. To stay close to Jesus you have to get to know Him. Try looking under the front cover of your Bible.

9) What do you do to entertain yourself?

Hang around my two sisters, Courtney and Carley. They are my greatest source of entertainment! (I love you girls!)

10) What are some of your favorite books?

Ultimately the Bible, then I like “Having a Mary Spirit”, “Desiring God”, “Practicing the Presence of God”, “Stepping Heavenward”; really anything by Andrew Murray, John Piper, Kay Arthur, and the list is always growing! I LOVE Christian classics.

11) What is one of your favorite things to do in the course of a day?

I love having a cup of hot tea in the morning while I read my Bible. (It probably my favorite time of the day!)

12) What is your favorite bible verse?

Oh…I don’t know if I can answer this one! (five minutes later) This is so hard! Ok, I’ll settle on this one: 2 Cor. 4:1-18, 5:9-10,14-21 (but it will change tomorrow!)

13) As far as music goes, who is your favorite artist and why? (Also name a couple of your favorite songs)

Chris Tomlin! Most all of his songs focus on Christ, and can be sung directly to Him. Plus, despite all the fame he has received, he has remained humble and glorified God for it all. Out of his songs my favorites include: “How Can I Keep From Singing”, “Holy is the Lord”, “Mighty is the Power of the Cross”, “Glory in the Highest”, and many more. Apart from Chris Tomlin, though, I LOVE old hymns! They are powerful and beautiful; and speak truth to us even centuries later.

14) Can you describe yourself in one word?

Um… …no.

15) What is your favorite quote? (From someone other than Christ)

“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.” (Maya Angelou) And one more! “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found lacking; it has been found difficult and left untried.” (G.K. Chesterton)

It has given me an outlet for my heart!

“For we are the fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” 2 Cor. 2:15

I am so excited about this new addition to the blog! In this section I will be interviewing set apart women about their walks with our Master, and post their answers to encourage and uplift everyone.

 

Just like the beautiful fragrance from the broken alabaster vial filled the room when the woman broke her treasure before the feet of Christ, so the fragrance from the hearts of these ladies will fill our hearts and bless our Master.

 

For the first “Alabaster Heart” my sisters will be interviewing me (we’ll see how that works!) just to familiarize you with the questions and layout.
